Granite

Alternatively, we have granite, which is the strongest of the natural stones. Because of this, granite is a good choice for floor tiles, because it is unlikely to break and is also highly scratch resistant, just like quartz. Unlike quartz however, granite is porous, which means it does absorb liquid and therefore will need sealing occasionally, ideally annually at the very least.

Granite is also available in countless different colours, patterns, and finishes, although they all have a tendency to be quite earthy, which is ideal for traditional or modern-style homes with a contemporary feel. If you want something brighter or more ‘out there’, then perhaps quartz is a better choice.

As you can see, there isn’t a lot of difference between quartz and granite, and perhaps the only big difference is the porosity issue. Granite will absorb any water on your floor tiles, which means it is less slippery than quartz, but the downside is that it is more likely to break as a result, unless you seal it regularly. If you seal it? No problems whatsoever, granite is very strong and hard-wearing.
